This is, of course,
to you of all those years ago:

There is no "deserve".
You did what you did willingly,
leaving me little in the way of options.
It's all gone sour for me since,
and it is still difficult to muster faith.
Still,
I'll find it, as you are now,
patience and resilience rewarded
not because of some just spiritual nature,
but of the kindness that humans have to offer one another,
nothing more.
After all,
the fairness we have
is the fairness we create,
as there is no "deserve".
